Description

The test detects specific IgG antibodies produced in response to infection with the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato bacterial complex. The test can diagnose current or past Lyme disease. Important! To confirm a diagnosis of Lyme disease, positive or inconclusive test results must be confirmed by blot analysis Package # 138 (Borrelia burgdorferi, IgG,IgM antibodies, BlotAnalisis).

Lyme disease is an infectious disease transmitted by the bite of a tick infected with the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato bacterial complex. The Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato complex includes B. burgdorferi sensu stricto, B. afzelii, and B. garinii.

Tick activity occurs in the spring and fall.

Early manifestations of the disease are nonspecific and can easily be confused with a viral infection, while later manifestations cause severe damage to the joints (arthritis), heart (carditis), and nervous system (neuroborreliosis).

Diagnosis is a two-step process: detection of antibodies to the pathogen and confirmation of the results by blotting analysis.

When and who needs the test?

Three to four weeks after a probable tick bite.

If you were outdoors (forests, parks) and have the following symptoms:

  • fever;
  • general malaise;
  • fatigue;
  • neck pain or stiffness;
  • migratory joint or muscle pain;
  • memory impairment or difficulty concentrating;
  • headache;
  • swollen lymph nodes;
  • tingling sensation;
  • four weeks after receiving a negative test result, if symptoms persist.
