Description
ALEX³ (Allergy Explorer) is a modern third-generation multiplex molecular allergy test that allows simultaneous determination of total IgE and specific IgE to 300 allergens from 145 sources (218 molecular components and 82 extracts).
The test is designed to identify clinically relevant sensitization, minimize cross-reactive responses, and create an individual molecular allergological profile for each patient.
Compared to ALEX², the updated ALEX³ version features an expanded panel of molecular allergens, including:
- nsLTP proteins
- the α-Gal molecule
- new fungal and animal allergen molecules
This is critically important for predicting the risk of severe allergic reactions and selecting the correct treatment strategy, including allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT).
ALEX³ detects even low-level sensitizations, enables differentiation between true allergy and cross-reactivity, and supports the development of a personalized allergy treatment plan.
When and who needs the test?
ALEX³ is recommended for:
- patients with polysensitization when multiple positive allergens are detected without clear clinical correlation;
- severe or atypical allergic reactions, including food-induced anaphylaxis, systemic reactions to pollen allergens, and suspected α-Gal syndrome;
- patients with negative or inconclusive skin test results in the presence of clinical symptoms;
- prior to initiating allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) to accurately identify the causative allergen;
- children with combined allergic manifestations (atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma, food allergy) for early identification of the primary sensitization and prediction of the further course of allergic disease.

Preparing for a blood test
In order to exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend to follow the preparation rules:
- an important condition for laboratory tests is to take blood on an empty stomach.
- 6-12 hours before the test, you should avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, and limit physical activity. Drinking...
