Description
Staphylococcus aureus exotoxins, such as enterotoxins SEA, SEB, TSST, can penetrate the skin barrier. They can exhibit superantigenic properties, stimulating the immune system, which contributes to an allergic inflammatory reaction in the skin.
Allergic reactions to staphylococcal enterotoxin A manifest themselves as atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, diseases of the digestive system (allergic stomatitis, cheilitis, gastritis, colitis, gastroenteritis).
Determination of specific IgE to a given allergen in increased quantities indicates the presence of sensitization of the organism to this allergen.
