9358. Acetylcholine receptors, IgG antibodies
Description
Antibodies to acetylcholine receptors are a specific marker of myasthenia gravis. This disease is manifested by the following symptoms: drooping eyelids, double vision, immobility of the eyes, impaired speech, breathing, gait, tachycardia, muscle weakness.
The test is performed to diagnose myasthenia gravis, but the appearance of antibodies may also indicate other pathologies (thymoma, small cell lung cancer, autoimmune liver diseases), therefore, a biochemical blood test, a test for antibodies to titen, electrolytes, CPK are additionally prescribed.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnosis of myasthenia;
- monitoring the effectiveness of immunosuppressive therapy for myasthenia gravis.
