9348. Parvovirus B19, IgM antibodies
Description
Parvovirus B19 is a virus that infects the walls of blood vessels and the membranes of red blood cells. Parvovirus is especially dangerous for pregnant women (if left untreated, parvovirus infection can provoke intrauterine fetal death).

The assay is widely used to diagnose parvovirus infection. It should be taken in conjunction with an assessment of the levels of IgG antibodies to parvovirus. Screening research during pregnancy will help to avoid many complications.
