9304. Diaminoxidase
Description
DAO deficiency is one of the causes of histamine intolerance. Histamine intolerance develops because of exogenous consumption of histamine with a decrease in the activity of diamine oxidase. DAO activity is reduced by alcohol consumption, a variety of medications, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, and vitamin B6 (coenzyme DAO) deficiency.
This test allows to detect DAO enzyme deficiency in patients with diarrhea, headache (also migraine), viral infections of the upper respiratory tract, bronchial asthma, urticaria, dysmenorrhea caused by the introduction of a large amount of histamine in food and determine the correct treatment tactics.
When and who needs the test?
- recommended for diagnosing histamine intolerance;
- for diff. diagnostics of histamine intolerance from IgE-caused allergies, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases (in Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.);
- for the selection and control of the effectiveness of therapy and a histamine-free diet.
