Description
Copper in the body is involved in many physiological processes, but its excess is dangerous due to the possibility of intoxication. The most common symptoms of poisoning are impaired kidney and liver function, general weakness, discoloration of the eyes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, a special taste in the mouth, mental disorders.
Determining the level of copper in the body can diagnose copper poisoning and adjust its treatment.
The test is best used in combination with general and biochemical blood tests.
When and who needs the test?
- to assess the patient's condition in case of suspicion of copper poisoning, as well as in the case of its shortage or disorders affecting the exchange of copper;
- for the diagnosis of Wilson-Konovalov disease;
- to monitor the effectiveness of treatment of Wilson-Konovalov disease and a pathological condition caused by an excess of copper or its excessive loss.
