9294. Interleukin-6 (IL-6)
Description
Interleukin-6 is a glycoprotein, which takes a part in immunity and inflammatory processes.
Its increase occurs while infectious, autoimmune diseases, psoriasis, Kaposi's sarcoma, liver disease (hepatitis, cirrhosis), pancreatitis, Crohn's disease, Kawasaki's disease. This test applies to access immune status, severity of pancreatitis, bacterial sepsis in newborns, autoimmune diseases.
With this test is recommended to take C-reactive cell, haptoglobin, serum amyloid A, alkaline phosphatase, ALT, AST, bilirubin, rheumatoid factor.
When and who needs the test?
- immune status definition in case of severe inflammatory processes, bacterial infections, malignant new diseases; severe pancreatitis (early assessment of the severity of the pathological process);
- bacterial sepsis in newborns;
- auto-immunity;
- ovarian cancer (assessment of disease aggressiveness);
