Description
Lipoprotein (a) is a specific protein whose blood levels rise when atherosclerotic plaques in blood vessels are destroyed.
In laboratory practice, it is used to determine
disorders of fat metabolism, assess the activity of the atherosclerotic
process, study the risk of stroke, heart attack, hypertension, and obesity. It
should be taken along with cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL, HDL.
