Description
Bile acids are produced by the liver and excreted with bile into the intestines, where they take part in digestion processes.
Determination of the levels of bile acids makes it possible to assess the excretory function of the liver and diagnose its diseases (hepatitis of various origins, obstruction of the biliary tract, cholecystitis).
The assessment of bile acids should be carried out with the study of other markers of liver damage (ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, thymol test, bilirubin, etc.).
