Important information
*The test is performed at Synevo laboratory in Germany
Description
Chromogranin A is a protein that is secreted by endocrine cells and is involved in the regulation of secretory processes. A sharp change in the levels of chromogranin A is observed during the development of neuroendocrine tumors.
The indicator is used to determine the effectiveness of treatment and prognosis with insulin, somatostatin, ACTH, gastrin and other neuroendocrine tumors.
The test should be determined in conjunction with an assessment of the levels of hormones secreted by the affected organ.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors – insulinoma, gastrinoma, carcinoid syndrome, VIPoma, glucagonoma, somatostatinoma, GHRHoma, CRFoma, ACTHoma;
- prostate cancer – reflects the neuroendocrine activity of the tumor, the response to hormone therapy, a survival prognostic factor;monitoring the effectiveness of NEP treatment.
