9030. Mycoplasma pneumoniae, IgG antibodies
Description
Mycoplasma pneumoniae is one of the most common bacteria that provoke the development of diseases of the respiratory tract. It is a common cause of pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis and tracheitis. Contact of bacteria with immune cells leads to the synthesis of the latter of specific antibodies.
Detection of IgG antibodies in the blood indicates the infection of the body with mycoplasma. To determine the activity of the process, the increase in the titer of these antibodies is determined.
The assay can be used for the diagnosis of mycoplasma infections and the differential diagnosis of respiratory infections. To improve the diagnostic accuracy, the levels of at least two classes of antibodies specific to mycoplasma should be studied simultaneously.
