The material collection must be done on an empty stomach at the following locations:

It is recommended to donate blood for analysis between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

Remain in an upright position for 2 hours. You may walk or stand; staying in the clinic is not mandatory.

Immediately before sample collection, remain in a seated position for at least 5 minutes (at the clinic).

Description

Renin is a substance produced in the kidneys and is involved in the regulation of blood pressure, the intensity of blood circulation in the kidneys and the maintenance of water and electrolyte balance. Assessment of direct renin levels plays an important role in finding the underlying cause and differential diagnosis of diseases that are characterized by an increase in blood pressure.

It is desirable to take this test in combination with an assessment of the levels of aldosterone in the blood.

When and who needs the test?

  • differential diagnosis of arterial hypertension (especially resistant forms);
  • hypokalemia;
  • increase in the level of aldosterone in the blood;
  • diagnosis of reninoma.

To exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend to follow these preparation rules:

  • an important condition for laboratory tests is to take blood on an empty stomach. 6-12 hours before the test, you should avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking and limit physical activity. Drinking still...
