Description
Ejaculate karyotyping (FISH) and DNA fragmentation (TUNEL) are genetic tests of sperm used to identify the causes of male infertility, miscarriage, and IVF failure. They allow for the assessment of chromosomal abnormalities and DNA damage in sperm.
When and who needs the test?
- If male factor infertility is suspected.
- In case of abnormalities in the spermogram.
- In case of habitual miscarriage in a couple.
- In case of a chromosomal abnormality in the fetus during previous pregnancies.
- After repeated unsuccessful IVF/ICSI attempts.
- If a balanced chromosomal rearrangement is detected in the man.
- To assess the risk of transmitting unbalanced translocations to offspring.
