Important information
*The prepared biomaterial is delivered in a tube with Amies transport medium. Sampling is performed by a physician.
Description
Bile culture with antibiotic susceptibility testing is a microbiological study that allows determining the qualitative and quantitative composition of bile microflora, identifying pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, and assessing their antibiotic sensitivity (antibiotic susceptibility test with MIC).
The results help the physician accurately identify the cause of the inflammatory process in the hepatobiliary system and select effective treatment.
When and who needs the test?
- In case of suspected inflammatory diseases of the hepatobiliary system (acute or chronic cholecystitis, cholangitis, gallstone disease).
- In the presence of pain in the right upper quadrant, nausea, fever, or jaundice.
- When biochemical test results (ALT, AST, alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin) are altered.
- In cases of inflammation of unclear etiology (to differentiate between bacterial and non-bacterial causes).
Biological material
- Various types of speciamen depending on the test
Preparing
Medical intervention. The brought material in the tube with the transport medium ‘Amies’
- The bile is taken before treatment with antimycotic/antibiotic drugs.
- In case of treatment control after ending of the course with antimycotic/antibiotic drugs in 14 days.
- Bile should be taken in the sterile disposable...
