Description

Dysbiosis is an imbalance of gut microbiota: fewer beneficial bacteria and more pathogenic ones. Symptoms include diarrhea or constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, and vitamin deficiency. Stool culture is performed to assess flora and guide treatment. Antibiotic susceptibility testing is done only for pathogenic bacteria.

When and who needs the test?

  • determination and evaluation of the microbial composition and the nature of intestinal biocenosis disturbance;
  • chronic diarrhea and other intestinal disorders in the patient;
  • malabsorption – impaired absorption of nutrients in the intestine;
  • prolonged use of certain medications – antibiotics, laxatives, immunosuppressants, and glucocorticosteroids;
  • undergoing chemotherapy; allergies.

  • Sample collection is performed before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
  • In case of treatment monitoring – 14 days after the end of the course of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
