Description
Cytological examination of aspirate from the uterine cavity allows you to evaluate the cellular composition of uterine secretions quantitatively and qualitatively.
The test objectively reflects the state of the endometrium. It is used to diagnose inflammatory processes, benign tumors of the uterus, precancerous conditions and endometrial cancer. It should be carried out in combination with histological studies of uterine tissues.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnosis of benign diseases, precancerous conditions and endometrial cancer;
- dysfunctional uterine bleeding;
- infertility;
- postmenopausal bleeding.
Biological material
- Smear on glass slide (various types depending on the test)
Preparing for urogenital sampling
Cytologic test for atypical cells (smear on glass)
- Exclude sexual intercourses for 3 days before sampling.
- Do not take antibacterial medications for 14 days before sampling.
- For 3 days before sampling, exclude vaginal douche and the use of vaginal suppositories, ointments, gels, tampons.
