Description
Microalbuminuria (MAU) is the excretion of albumin in the urine from 30 to 300 mg/day. MAU always precedes proteinuria. At the MAU stage, changes in the renal glomeruli are potentially reversible with pathogenetic therapy.
With this test, it is possible to evaluate kidney function in glomerulonephritis, diabetes mellitus, heart failure, hypertension, systemic diseases, in cases of suspected cystic kidney disease.
When and who needs the test?
- early diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy;
- diagnostics and monitoring of kidney function in the treatment of nephropathy in systemic diseases (secondary nephropathy) that occur with prolonged hypertension, congestive heart failure;
- diagnosis of nephropathy during pregnancy;
- diagnosis of early stages of nephropathy in inflammatory (glomerulonephritis) and cystic kidney diseases (primary nephropathy).
