Description
Ki-67 and p16 are markers of active proliferation (division and growth) of cervical cells, the presence of which indicates a high risk of developing cancer.
The analysis is widely used to detect precancerous changes in the cervix and allows, by detecting pathological foci in the tissues in time and taking the necessary measures, to avoid serious health problems. It should be taken in combination with a Pap test, HPV tests.
When and who needs the test?
- screening and diagnosis of precancerous diseases of the cervix
- screening and diagnosis of cervical cancer, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, monitoring of women after treatment of these diseases
- exclusion of the presence of malignant transformation of the cervical epithelium in cases of HPV infection with a high carcinogenic risk
- high viral load detected during HPV testing
- the presence of changes in the PAP test, especially against the background of HPV detection
- persistence of changes in the cervix according to the cytological examination against the background of the treatment
