4028. Helicobacter pylori, antigen in feces (qualitative determination)

H. pylori antigen detection in feces is a highly sensitive, noninvasive test for confirming or ruling out active Helicobacter pylori infection. The test is widely used for initial diagnosis and for monitoring treatment effectiveness after eradication therapy.

H. pylori is a bacterium that colonizes the mucosa of the stomach and duodenum, causing diseases such as gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric malignancies (adenocarcinoma, MALT lymphoma).

Infection occurs through direct contact and the fecal-oral route.

Detection of H. pylori antigen in stool is suitable for both the initial diagnosis of active infection and for treatment monitoring, as it only indicates current infection, not past exposure, as serological tests do.

• If close ones are infected with H. pylori.
• If there is a family history of gastric ulcers or malignant neoplasms.
• If the following symptoms are present: a feeling of heaviness or discomfort in the stomach after eating, a feeling of fullness quickly after eating, a burning sensation/pain in the epigastrium (upper abdomen), bloating, nausea.
• If you have been diagnosed with gastritis or gastric ulcers.
• If you have been diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia of unknown etiology.
• During long-term treatment with aspirin or before the use of long-term nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
• After a course of treatment for H. pylori.
