Description
The test is used to diagnose rotavirus gastroenteritis, which is one of the most common causes of acute viral diarrhea, especially in young children.
When and who needs the test?
- Adults and children with symptoms of acute intestinal infection: diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, dehydration.
- If a viral etiology of gastroenteritis is suspected, to differentiate it from a bacterial or parasitic infection.
- In cases of intestinal infection outbreaks in organized groups (childcare facilities, hospitals, military units, etc.).
