Description
The direct Coombs test is an antiglobulin test that detects antibodies fixed on the surface of red blood cells circulating in the bloodstream.
The test helps to identify the cause of hemolytic anemia and complications after blood transfusion. It is optimal to prescribe with liver tests, antibodies to erythrocytes according to the AB0 system.
When and who needs the test?
Diagnosis of immune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic disease of the newborn, drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia, hemolytic transfusion reactions.
