4021. Nasal Cytology (nasal smear)
Description
Nasal smear. Cytological test is a laboratory test of the cellular composition of a smear from the nasal cavity. It is important to take a nasocytogram when clinically detecting signs of inflammation of the nasal mucosa (difficulty breathing, copious discharge from the nose, itching, and others).
The test is to identify the root cause of the development of the inflammatory process and is widely used in the diagnosis of rhinitis of various etiologies.
The results of a nasal cytological test help to choose the most effective treatment, avoid complications and speed up recovery.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnosis of inflammatory diseases of the nasal mucosa: discharge from the nose, difficulty in nasal breathing, sneezing and itching in the nasal cavity
- differential diagnosis of rhinitis

Preparation for the analysis
Avoid taking topical medications 24-48 hours before the test;
Avoid taking systemic medications;
- If possible, do not take antihistamines or corticosteroids 3-5 days before the test (only with the doctor's approval)
Avoid mechanical effects on the mucous membrane;
- Do not blow your nose vigorously 1-2 hours...
