Description
Cytology for abnormal cells is a routine test in the work of every gynecologist. This test makes it possible to identify pathological changes in the tissues of the cervix at the cellular level and is aimed at early diagnosis of cervical cancer. It is obligatory carried out in case of detection of pathological changes in the cervix and as planned in all women aged 21 to 65 years at least once every 1-3 years.
When and who needs the test?
- screening and diagnosis of precancerous diseases of the cervix;
- screening and diagnosis of cervical cancer;
- the presence of pathology;
- monitoring the effectiveness of treatment of pathology of the cervix.
Biological material
- Smear on glass slide (various types depending on the test)
Preparation for cytology
- Collect the material before starting treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs (general and local action).
- In case of treatment monitoring – 14 days after the end of the course of treatment with antibacterial/antifungal drugs.
