4009. Scraping on pinworm eggs (enterobiosis)
Important information
*For testing, the brougt-in biomaterial is taken
Description
Pinworms are helminths that live in the intestines and cause indigestion and itching in the anus in an infected person.
Scraping from the anal region reveals pinworm eggs, which they lay at intervals of two weeks. Given this feature of egg laying, to completely exclude enterobiasis – helminthiasis caused by pinworms, with a negative analysis, the study should be repeated seven times every two days. Only if no pinworm eggs are found in seven analyzes, it can be argued that the examined person does not have enterobiasis.
This test should be carried out in combination with a general blood test.
Cover glass can be obtained free of charge in the branch.
