This comprehensive laboratory investigation combines PCR diagnostics for major sexually transmitted infections (STIs) with bacteriological culture of urogenital specimens and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.

The test enables the detection of pathogens causing chlamydia, gonorrhea, mycoplasmosis, gardnerellosis, trichomoniasis, and other infections.

If microflora are detected, an antibiogram with MIC (minimum inhibitory concentration) determination is performed to support selection of effective treatment.

Automated identification of microorganisms is performed using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry on the MALDI Biotyper sirius IVD System analyzer (Bruker, Germany).

Package №38 'Urogenital Health' is a comprehensive test aimed at a full assessment of the urogenital tract, detection of bacterial and protozoal pathogens of STIs, and determination of antibiotic susceptibility of the identified microflora.

The PCR (polymerase chain reaction) method provides high sensitivity and allows detection of even small amounts of pathogen DNA – before the appearance of clinical symptoms.

Bacteriological culture (culture test) complements molecular diagnostics, enabling evaluation of opportunistic microflora composition and performing antibiotic susceptibility testing.

The package includes detection of the following infectious agents:

• Chlamydia trachomatis – one of the most common urogenital infection pathogens, transmitted sexually, vertically, or by contact; often asymptomatic, increasing the risk of complications (cervicitis, salpingitis, prostatitis);
• Mycoplasma hominis – an opportunistic bacterium associated with bacterial vaginosis, urethritis, and cervicitis, especially in cases of vaginal microbiota imbalance;
• Mycoplasma genitalium – a highly pathogenic mycoplasma, the causative agent of urethritis, cervicitis, and endometritis; detectable only by PCR;
• Ureaplasma species (U. urealyticum and U. parvum) – bacteria that may be part of the normal flora but can cause inflammation under certain conditions;
• Neisseria gonorrhoeae – the causative agent of gonorrhea, a bacterial STI that may be asymptomatic and lead to complications (pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility);
• Trichomonas vaginalis – a unicellular parasite causing trichomoniasis, transmitted sexually, vertically (during childbirth), and rarely by contact;
• Gardnerella vaginalis – the main causative agent of bacterial vaginosis associated with vaginal microbiota imbalance.

Bacteriological culture of urogenital material additionally allows:

• detection of other opportunistic bacteria (Enterococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Streptococcus spp., etc.);
• evaluation of the qualitative and quantitative composition of microflora;
• determination of antibiotic susceptibility with MIC-based antibiogram.

This approach provides comprehensive diagnostics, helps detect hidden infections, assess complication risks, and select personalized antibacterial therapy.

The test includes automated pathogen identification and interpretation according to EUCAST / CLSI standards.

If pathogens are detected, self-medication is unacceptable – the results must be evaluated by a physician to determine targeted therapy.
