Description

Real-time PCR testing for bacterial vaginosis (BV) allows for the accurate detection of pathogens that cause vaginal dysbiosis and abnormal discharge. This is one of the most common conditions in women of reproductive age, often asymptomatic but potentially leading to complications.

This test identifies key microorganisms involved in bacterial vaginosis (BV), a pathological condition that occurs when the vaginal microflora is imbalanced. Normally, lactobacilli (Lactobacillus spp.) predominate, creating an acidic environment that protects the mucous membrane from pathogenic bacteria. With BV, their numbers decrease, and opportunistic bacteria predominate.

The most common bacteria involved in the development of BV are:

  • Gardnerella vaginalis;
  • Atopobium vaginae;
  • anaerobic bacteria (Mobiluncus, Prevotella, Bacteroides spp., etc.).

Advantages of the test:

  • High sensitivity and specificity for detecting bacterial vaginosis pathogens, particularly Gardnerella vaginalis, Atopobium vaginae, etc.
  • Allows quantitative assessment of the level of microflora imbalance (degree of dysbiosis). Allows you to determine the cause of disease recurrences and adapt the treatment regimen.
  • Effective for monitoring the effectiveness of therapy, particularly in asymptomatic cases with subtle clinical manifestations.
  • Helps prevent complications associated with BV: pelvic inflammatory disease, pregnancy complications, decreased mucosal immune defense, etc.

When and who needs the test?

  • Women with abnormal vaginal discharge, itching, and burning.
  • For recurrent bacterial vaginosis (relapses).
  • Before gynecological procedures, IUDs, and invasive procedures.
  • When planning a pregnancy or preparing for IVF.
  • To monitor the effectiveness of bacterial vaginosis treatment.

Biological material

  • Scrapes from various sites depending on the test

Preparing for urogenital sampling

The sampling of biomaterial is carried out only in women.

  • Avoid sexual intercourse for 3 days.
  • Do not take antibacterial drugs for 14 days.
  • Within 3 days, exclude douching and the use of vaginal suppositories (suppositories), ointments, gels, tampons.
  • The biomaterial is taken at least 3 days after the end...
