Description
PCR screening for the causes of vaginitis is a modern test for diagnosing bacterial vaginosis with a quantitative assessment of key microorganisms. It is aimed at the detection of dysbiosis, an accurate diagnosis, and the evaluation of treatment effectiveness and the causes of recurrence.
When and who needs the test?
- Women with abnormal vaginal discharge – for an accurate diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis.
- In cases of recurrent BV – to assess the composition of the microflora and persistent forms of the pathogen.
- Before invasive gynecological procedures – to rule out inflammation.
- Women with infertility or when planning a pregnancy – even in the absence of symptoms, given the high incidence of asymptomatic BV (up to 50%).
- To monitor treatment, especially if standard therapy is ineffective.
