3122. PCR. Parvovirus B19 (oro/pharyngeal scraping, quantification)
Description
Parvovirus B19 PCR testing in oropharyngeal swabs allows for the detection and quantification of viral DNA in the early stages of infection. It is used for acute respiratory symptoms, in contact cases, and to confirm the source of infection in groups.
When and who needs the test?
- Children and adults with acute catarrhal syndrome or viral rash.
- Patients who have had contact with a confirmed case of parvovirus infection.
- As part of an epidemiological investigation in the event of an outbreak at a school, kindergarten, or medical facility.
- Pregnant women – if recent contact or symptoms of a viral infection without an identified pathogen are suspected.
- To confirm the pathogen in cases of questionable serology or early infection before the appearance of IgM.
Biological material
- Scrapes from various sites depending on the test
Preparing for oropharyngeal swab taking
- Taking the material is carried out on an empty stomach or 2–4 hours after eating.
- Before taking the sample, you should rinse your mouth with drinking water.
In the case of sample collection at a Synevo branch, you will be offered to rinse your mouth with water from a cooler
