3122. PCR. Parvovirus B19 (oro/pharyngeal scraping, quantification)
Description
Parvovirus infection is a viral disease from the group of TORCH infections, which is manifested by specific erythema on the face and extremities.
Determination of the genetic material of the virus in a scraping from the oropharynx allows you to confirm the fact of infection with parvovirus.
The assay is widely used for diagnosing parvovirus infection in people with a clinical picture of the disease, determining asymptomatic carriage of the virus, as well as screening during pregnancy. It is better to take it in combination with other causative agents of TORCH infections.
When and who needs the test?
- for the differential diagnosis of the causes of infectious erythema in children or polyarthropathies in adults;
- to diagnose the causes of acute or chronic anemia in immunocompromised patients (HIV-infected, recipients of donor organs);
- to diagnose the causes of dropsy in newborns;
- to diagnose parvovirus infection in pregnant women and assess the risk of fetal pathology;
- to clarify the causes of transient aplastic crisis in patients with congenital forms of hemolytic anemia.
Biological material
- Scrapes from various sites depending on the test
Preparing for oropharyngeal swab taking
- Taking the material is carried out on an empty stomach or 2–4 hours after eating.
- Before taking the sample, you should rinse your mouth with drinking water.
In the case of sample collection at a Synevo branch, you will be offered to rinse your mouth with water from a cooler
