Description

Package No. 150 is a non-invasive urine PCR test to detect pathogens of the main sexually transmitted infections: Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

A comprehensive test for the early diagnosis of urogenital infections, performed using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The biospecimen is the first portion of morning urine, allowing for painless, non-invasive, and highly sensitive detection of pathogen DNA, even with minimal viral/bacterial load.

The package tests for:

  • Chlamydia trachomatis – the causative agent of chlamydia, often causing asymptomatic infections and infertility;
  • Mycoplasma genitalium – the most pathogenic mycoplasma, causing urethritis, cervicitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease;
  • Ureaplasma species – opportunistic pathogens causing urethritis, prostatitis, and sperm abnormalities;
  • Trichomonas vaginalis – the causative agent of trichomoniasis, one of the most common STIs;
  • Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the classic causative agent of gonorrhea.

Advantages of the kit:

  • non-invasive (urine sample);
  • high sensitivity and specificity of PCR;
  • detection of multiple pathogens in a single sample.

Preparation: Collect the first portion of morning urine in a sterile container. It is recommended to refrain from genital hygiene before collecting the urine and from sexual intercourse for 24 hours prior to the test.

When and who needs the test?

For women and men:

  • with symptoms of genitourinary infections (burning, itching, discharge, pain during urination or intercourse);
  • if an STI is suspected (the partner has been diagnosed with an infection);
  • if the disease is asymptomatic – as a screening measure for young people under 25 or before planning a pregnancy;
  • before starting treatment or to monitor the effectiveness of therapy.

For women, it is also recommended for:

  • menstrual irregularities;
