Description

PCR testing for Neisseria gonorrhoeae in prostate fluid is a highly sensitive method for diagnosing chronic or latent gonococcal infection. It is recommended for prostatitis, pelvic pain, infertility, or recurrent STIs when other tests are negative.

When and who needs the test?

  • Men with suspected chronic prostatitis of infectious origin.
  • With negative smears or urine PCR tests despite persistent complaints.
  • Patients with infertility or changes in semen indicating inflammation.
  • With recurrent STIs, especially after incomplete or ineffective treatment.
  • Before antibiotic treatment – ​​to identify gonococcal prostatitis.
