Description

PCR analysis of prostate secretions for Mycoplasma genitalium allows for the detection of pathogen DNA at the site of chronic inflammation. This method is used for prostatitis, pelvic pain, decreased fertility in men, and ineffective treatment of STIs.

When and who needs the test?

  • Men with chronic prostatitis or pelvic pain.
  • If urine/scraping PCR results are negative but symptoms persist.
  • In patients with infertility or abnormal sperm counts.
  • If an intracellular infection is suspected that is unresponsive to standard therapy.
  • To monitor treatment or select targeted antibiotic therapy.

  • The material should be collected before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antimycotic drugs (general and local).
  • In the case of control treatment – after the end of the course of antibacterial/antimycotic drugs after 14 days.
