Description

PCR test with quantitative determination and genotyping of 14 high-risk HPV types. This analysis allows for assessing the risk of developing cancer, particularly cervical cancer, and determining the appropriate course of further monitoring and treatment.

This test detects high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA and determines its concentration in urogenital swabs, with simultaneous genotyping. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is used, which is characterized by extremely high analytical sensitivity and specificity. This allows for the detection of even minimal amounts of viral material, which is critical in asymptomatic or latent infections.

The study identifies 14 of the most recognized HPV genotypes: 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, and 68. The most dangerous of these are types 16 and 18, accounting for over 70% of all cervical cancer cases, as well as a significant proportion of adenocarcinomas, CIN III, and high-grade intraepithelial lesions.

Quantitative viral load assessment allows not only for the diagnosis of infection but also for dynamic monitoring of its progression, monitoring the effectiveness of therapy, and the risk of persistence or reinfection. Genotyping allows us to differentiate persistence from new infection, assess cancer risks for each specific type, and formulate a personalized medical monitoring strategy.

The study is recommended both as part of routine screening and for monitoring in women with dysplasia, positive cytological changes, after treatment for CIN or conization of the cervix.

When and who needs the test?

  • During initial HPV screening.
  • For cervical pathology, dysplasia, or CIN.
  • As part of triage in case of a positive cytology result.
  • To monitor the effectiveness of treatment for HPV-associated changes.
  • As part of preparation for a planned pregnancy or IVF.
  • For partners of individuals with high-risk HPV infection.
  • For women with recurrent or asymptomatic HPV infection.

Women

  • Collection of material should be carried out before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antimycotic drugs (general and local).
  • In case of treatment monitoring – 14 days after completion of the course of treatment with antibacterial/antimycotic drugs.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse for 3 days.
