Description
Cytomegalovirus infection is an infectious disease that is often asymptomatic. When immunity is weakened, its severe forms can occur.
Determination of the genetic material of the virus allows to confirm the infection and indirectly judge its activity.
The assay can be used for the diagnosis of cytomegalovirus infection, its differential diagnosis from other infectious diseases, and screening during pregnancy or its planning.
When and who needs the test?
- establishment of the etiological factor in conditions clinically similar to the manifestations of cytomegalovirus infection;
- assessment of viremia to monitor the effectiveness of antiviral therapy;
- diagnosis of reactivation in immunocompromised patients;
- diagnosis of congenital CMV infection in children.
