Description
PCR testing for Trichomonas vaginalis from urogenital swabs is a sensitive and accurate method for diagnosing trichomoniasis. It is recommended for STI symptoms, infertility, recurrent vaginitis or urethritis, and for screening in cases of increased risk of infection.
When and who needs the test?
- For STI symptoms such as itching, abnormal, foul-smelling discharge, or pain.
- Women with recurrent vaginitis or cervicitis of unknown etiology.
- Men with urethritis, signs of prostatitis, or epididymitis.
