Description
Trichomonas vaginalis is the causative agent of a group of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). According to various sources, up to 10 percent of the adult population is infected with Trichomonas vaginalis. The pathogen has a high affinity for the mucous organs of the genitourinary system. Although the infection is most often asymptomatic, it is very dangerous for its complications (infertility, erectile dysfunction, etc.).
Qualitative determination of the presence of the genetic material of Trichomonas vaginalis in the urogenital scraping allows you to confirm the fact of human infection.
The test is widely used for the diagnosis of trichomoniasis and, in combination with other pathogens, for the differential diagnosis of STIs.
