Description
PCR testing for Ureaplasma species from urogenital swabs is an accurate method for detecting infections that are often asymptomatic. It is recommended for urethritis, cervicitis, infertility, pelvic inflammatory diseases, pregnancy complications, and recurrent STIs.
When and who needs the test?
- For symptoms of a urogenital infection (abnormal discharge, itching, pain, dysuria).
- For chronic or recurrent pelvic inflammatory diseases.
- For couples with infertility or before IVF/ICSI programs.
- For miscarriage, pregnancy complications, or suspected endometritis.
- For suspected STIs with negative results from other tests.
- As a screening tool for patients with high-risk sexual activity.

Women
- Collection of material should be carried out before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antimycotic drugs (general and local).
