Description
PCR testing for Mycoplasma genitalium from urogenital swabs is a highly sensitive method for detecting infections that are often asymptomatic. The test is used for urethritis, cervicitis, infertility, and recurrent STIs.
When and who needs the test?
- For symptoms of urethritis, cervicitis, abnormal discharge, pain, or dysuria.
- For suspected STIs, particularly those with recurrent or persistent infections.
- For couples with infertility or unsuccessful IVF attempts.
- For negative results for other pathogens, but persistent symptoms.
- To clarify the etiology of chronic prostatitis, pelvic pain, or endometritis.

Women
- Collection of material should be carried out before the start of treatment with antibacterial/antimycotic drugs (general and local).
