Description
Chlamydia is a disease from the group of urogenital infections caused by the intracellular parasite Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia are the most common cause of urinary tract infections. Urogenital scraping is the basic method for diagnosing infectious diseases of the genitourinary system.
The detection of chlamydia genetic material in a scraping allows you to confirm the fact of infection and determine the role of the pathogen in the development of the disease.
The test is widely used for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of various sexually transmitted diseases.
When and who needs the test?
- exception Chl. trachomatis as the cause of the clinic of cervicitis, salpingitis, endometritis (women), epididymitis (men), urethritis, proctitis, Reiter's syndrome, arthritis, conjunctivitis, trachoma;
- exclusion of Neisseria gonorrhoeae in all cases of infertility (men and women);
- in newborns and children of the first month of life – with conjunctivitis, pneumonia;
- monitoring the effectiveness of treatment (recommended 3 weeks after the end).
