Description
The package includes the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies to SS-B/La and SS-A/Ro antigens by the EliA method. Antibodies to SS-A (Ro) are directed to proteins associated with Y1-Y5 RNA in the spliceosome. These antibodies are most found in Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. In SLE, their production is associated with a certain set of clinical manifestations and laboratory disorders: photosensitivity, Sjögren's syndrome, hyperproduction of rheumatoid factor. The presence of anti-SS-A antibodies in the blood of a pregnant woman is associated with a high risk of developing neonatal lupus syndrome in a child.
Antibodies SS-B(La) – to proteins associated with the enzyme RNA polymerase-3 are found in 40-50% of patients with Sjögren's disease. They can be detected in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that has its onset in old age. It is believed that the detection of these antibodies in this case is associated with a low incidence of lupus nephritis.
When and who needs the test?
- used in the diagnosis of autoimmune diseases (systemic connective tissue diseases);
- for the differential diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome;
- SLE;
- subacute lupus erythematosus;
- in the presence of a rash characteristic of lupus erythematosus;
- when examining newborns whose mothers are sick with SLE.
Biological material
