2482. ANA. Double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), IgG antibodies
Description
The presence of antibodies to double-stranded (double-stranded) DNA is highly specific for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), less often and at lower concentrations they occur in other diffuse connective tissue diseases or drug-induced SLE. It is assumed that anti-dsDNA IgG antibodies are directly involved in the pathogenesis of vasculitis and lupus nephritis.
The diagnostic specificity of the anti-dsDNA IgG test for SLE (% of negative test results in the absence of disease) is 98% in the healthy donor population and 87% in the patient population with other autoimmune diseases.
The diagnostic sensitivity of the test for SLE (% of positive test results in the presence of the disease) is 85%.
When and who needs the test?
Recommended for diagnosing, evaluating activity and monitoring treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus.
