Description

Package “Exclude hidden tuberculosis” is a set of laboratory tests necessary to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection. Tuberculosis is a specific bacterial disease characterized by a predominant lesion of the pulmonary apparatus. The QuantiFERON test is an alternative to the tuberculin test used to diagnose latent tuberculosis.

Indications for use:

preventive examination of persons at risk of M. tuberculosis infection (medical staff, contact persons, immunocompromised patients – HIV infection, immunosuppressive therapy, diabetes mellitus, alcoholism);
as a confirmation test after the Mantoux test;
in the presence of signs of active tuberculosis: cough, hemoptysis, weight loss, nocturnal profuse sweating, persistent subfebrile.

When and who needs the test?

The test is recommended in the presence of a positive reaction to the Mantoux test to rule out a reaction after vaccination, in the diagnosis of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, screening of patients at high risk of infection.
