Description
The comprehensive test includes the QuantiFERON test, a test used to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), as well as a clinical blood test, which allows for a comprehensive assessment of overall health and the detection of inflammation, anemia, and other pathological conditions.
When and who needs the test?
- Individuals with suspected latent tuberculosis infection, especially children and immunocompromised patients.
- Individuals in close contact with a person with active tuberculosis.
- To confirm skin test results and rule out a post-vaccination reaction in case of a positive Mantoux test (especially in children).
- Individuals with contraindications to tuberculin skin testing.
- HIV-positive patients, individuals on hemodialysis.
- Before prescribing immunosuppressive therapy (e.g., anti-TNF-based drugs: infliximab, adalimumab, etanercept), when latent tuberculosis must be ruled out.
- For screening of designated population groups (medical professionals, social workers, teachers, public transportation workers, etc.).
