2378. Quantiferon Test. Latent tuberculosis infection (plasma)
Description
Tuberculosis is a widespread and very dangerous infectious disease characterized by severe damage to the lungs (rarely other organs).
The QuantiFERON test is the most accurate and informative method for diagnosing tuberculosis. It allows you to identify latent (hidden) forms of tuberculosis, confirm the diagnosis in controversial clinical situations.
When and who needs the test?
For the diagnosis of LTBI:
- in HIV-infected;
- adults and children who have been in contact with patients with pulmonary TB;
- patients starting treatment with immunosuppressive drugs;
- patients on hemodialysis;
- preparing for organ transplantation;
- patients who have contraindications for tuberculin skin tests;
- to confirm the results of skin tests and exclude a post-vaccination reaction with a positive Mantoux test (especially in children);
- diagnosis of active tuberculosis, including extrapulmonary, in conjunction with radiological, laboratory and clinical manifestations.
