2153. Measles virus, IgM antibodies
Description
Measles is one of the most contagious infectious diseases. It is caused by viruses from the Paramyxoviridae family. The disease is manifested by fever, cough, runny nose, intoxication, puffiness and a specific rash on the skin and mucous membranes. The body reacts to the appearance of the measles virus by secreting specific antibodies.
Determination of IgM antibody levels allows confirmation of the etiological role of the virus in the development of the disease.
The test is used for the diagnosis of measles, as well as in combination with other tests for the differential diagnosis of infectious diseases.
