2108. Tissue transglutaminase, IgG antibodies
Description
Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the intestinal epithelium.
At this pathology the following symptoms arise:
- diarrhea;
- weight loss;
- allocation of fat with feces;
- drowsiness;
- muscle pains;
- flatulence.
The IgG antibody test for tissue transglutaminase is used to diagnose and control the treatment of gluten enteropathy in patients with isolated immunoglobulin A deficiency, to screen individuals with celiac disease and to evaluate the effectiveness of a gluten-free diet.In the complex, a test for IgA antibodies to tissue transglutaminase is prescribed.
When and who needs the test?
- screening study of patients with suspected celiac disease (with typical and atypical clinical picture), persons at increased risk of developing the disease (aggravated family history of celiac disease, preliminary diagnosis, carriers of HLA alleles – DQ2 and / or DQ8);
- screening for suspected herpetiform dermatitis in combination with endomysium antibody testing;
- monitoring the activity of the process, assessing adherence to a gluten-free diet, control of a gluten-free diet in patients with herpetiform dermatitis and celiac disease.
