Description

Package No. 9.1 includes the determination of IgG and IgM antibodies to TORCH infections: toxoplasmosis, rubella, CMV, parvovirus B19, HSV-1, and HSV-2. It provides a complete picture of immune status, allowing for the detection of acute infections and assessment of the body's immunity.

Package No. 9.1 TORCH IgG/IgM is an expanded serological test that covers 11 parameters and is aimed at assessment of both the presence of immunity (IgG) and the acute phase of infection or its reactivation (IgM) for a number of infections that are dangerous during pregnancy or in immunosuppressed individuals.

This package includes the following tests:

  • Toxoplasma gondii – IgG and IgM;
  • Rubella virus (rubella) – IgG and IgM;
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV) – IgG and IgM;
  • Parvovirus B19 – IgG and IgM;
  • Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) – IgG and IgM;
  • Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) – IgG.

These pathogens are part of the TORCH complex, and their timely diagnosis is crucial for pregnancy management, conception planning, suspected intrauterine infection, or lesions of the central nervous system, liver, or eyes in newborns.

What do IgG and IgM mean?

  • IgG indicates developed immunity following an infection or vaccination. The presence of IgG allows one to assess the body's level of protection.
  • IgM is a marker of acute or recent infection. Its detection indicates a high risk of fetal complications during pregnancy.

Simultaneous determination of IgG and IgM allows one to:

  • Assess the stage of the infectious process;
  • Detect primary infection or viral reactivation;
  • Decide on further treatment: further testing (avidity, PCR), observation, or treatment.

Package No. 9.1 provides comprehensive diagnostics of TORCH infections, allowing the physician to make informed decisions based on accurate data on the patient’s immune status and the risks to the fetus.

When and who needs the test?

  • Women planning a pregnancy.
  • Pregnant women in the first trimester – as part of the basic TORCH screening.
  • In cases of fetal abnormalities on ultrasound or suspected congenital infections.
  • Patients with weakened immune systems, after transplantation, or on immunosuppressive therapy.
  • In cases of recurrent herpes, rashes, and hepatitis of unknown origin.
  • Upon referral by a doctor in cases of miscarriages, stillbirths, or intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).

Biological material

  • Venous blood

Preparing for a blood test

In order to exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend to follow the preparation rules:

  • an important condition for laboratory tests is to take blood on an empty stomach.
