Description

Package No. 9.3 includes the determination of IgG and IgM antibodies to three TORCH infections: toxoplasmosis, rubella, and cytomegalovirus. It helps identify acute infection or the presence of immunity. Recommended during pregnancy planning and in the early stages.

Package No. 9.3 TORCH IgG/IgM is a serological assay that includes the simultaneous determination of IgG and IgM antibodies to three key infections from the TORCH complex:

  • Toxoplasma gondii – IgG and IgM;
  • Rubella virus (rubella) – IgG and IgM;
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV) – IgG and IgM.

These infections have a high teratogenic potential, meaning they can cause congenital malformations, intrauterine growth retardation, damage to the nervous system, eyes, liver, and heart, especially in the case of primary infection during pregnancy.

Significance of IgG and IgM:

  • IgG – indicates a previous infection or the presence of immunity after vaccination (in the case of rubella);
  • IgM – indicates an acute or recent infection, which is particularly dangerous during pregnancy as it can lead to vertical (intrauterine) transmission of the infection to the fetus.

Simultaneous determination of IgG and IgM allows:

  • to identify primary infection, reactivation, or long-term infection;
  • to establish the presence of protection or the risk of infection;
  • to predict risks of pregnancy complications or congenital infections.

Package No. 9.3 is a basic TORCH complex that allows for the timely detection or exclusion of infections that are critical for reproductive health and the prevention of congenital anomalies.

When and who needs the test?

  • For women planning pregnancy – to assess their immune status against TORCH infections.
  • For pregnant women in the first trimester – to rule out acute infections that could harm the fetus.
  • For miscarriages, stillbirths, and fetal abnormalities on ultrasound.
  • In case of contact with infected individuals (e.g., in a children's group).
  • To assess the indications for rubella vaccination before pregnancy.

Biological material

  • Venous blood
