2090. Tumor marker GI (CA 242)
Description
The gastrointestinal tumor marker (CA 242) is a specific tumor marker for tumors of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, colon, rectum, and pancreas). It is used for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and recurrence and metastasis monitoring. Recommended in combination with the CA 19-9, CA 50, and CA 72-4 markers.
When and who needs the test?
- patients with suspected tumors of the stomach, pancreas, colon, or rectum;
- to assess the effectiveness of treatment for gastrointestinal oncology;
- to monitor recurrences and metastases in patients diagnosed with cancer;
- to distinguish benign gastrointestinal lesions (e.g., pancreatitis, chronic liver disease) from malignant tumors.

In order to exclude factors that may affect the test results, we recommend to follow the preparation rules:
