2081. Creatine kinase-MB (CPK-MB)
Description
Creatine phosphokinase – an enzyme that ensures the work of muscles, heart and nervous system. Creatine phosphokinase-MB is present only in heart tissues and differs from muscle and brain creatine phosphokinase.
With ischemic and necrotic damage to heart tissue cells, a large amount of this enzyme is released into the blood. Its definition is used in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, angina pectoris and other heart diseases.
Creatine phosphokinase-MB should be studied in combination with creatinine, AST, LDH, urea nitrogen, C-reactive protein.
When and who needs the test?
- diagnosis of myocardial infarction;
- control of the course of myocardial infarction and assessment of the dynamics of the necrotic process.
