Description
The test allows assessment of the timing of cytomegalovirus infection by measuring the maturity of IgG antibodies. It helps differentiate a recent infection (low avidity) from a past infection (high avidity).
When and who needs the test?
Who and when is testing recommended for?
- Pregnant women with positive CMV IgG – to assess the timing of infection.
- In cases of borderline or positive IgM results – to confirm or rule out primary infection.
- For monitoring chronic CMV infection in immunocompromised patients.
- Before planning a pregnancy – as part of the TORCH panel.
