Description

The test detects specific IgG antibodies to Chlamydia pneumoniae. Detection of IgG may indicate a current infection or recovery.

C. pneumoniae is a type of bacteria that causes upper and lower respiratory tract infections by damaging the mucous membranes and is transmitted through the air. The most common symptoms of C. pneumoniae infection include fatigue, headache, hoarseness or loss of voice, low-grade fever, sore throat, and a worsening cough.

When and who needs the test?

To detect Chlamydia pneumoniae infection of the upper and lower respiratory tract in respiratory diseases such as pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia.
